Scoop them out onto a parchment lined baking sheet and freeze. Make big treats or little treats – whatever y our furry friends prefer.

Made with peanut butter and pumpkin, these treats are not only tasty but packed with nutrients. Pumpkin works wonders for digestion, providing a healthy dose of vitamins, while peanut butter delivers protein your dog will love. Oats bring even more to the table with their soluble fiber, helping to support digestion and weight management. They also add a boost of iron, zinc, and B vitamins that promote a shiny coat and healthy skin. Just be careful—if your dog hasn’t tried oats before, don’t overdo it. Too much, especially raw oats, can lead to an upset tummy, and no one wants that!

Storing these treats is super easy. Keep them in the freezer for up to a month, and you’ll always have a quick reward on hand. If your dog prefers softer treats, pop them in the fridge, where they’ll stay fresh for up to two weeks. The softer texture might even be a hit with your pup!

A Cautionary Tail

One important tip: ALWAYS check the ingredients for Xylitol before you start. This sweetener is toxic to dogs, and even a small amount can be dangerous. Make sure to avoid it at all costs! Another important tip – if you have small dogs, make these treats no bigger than a dime size so they can eat them easier.  My little dogs love these treats but they struggle with chewing a frozen treat.  Always watch your pups when giving  any treat to avoid getting them getting excited and gobbling them down then subsequently getting choked.

Next time you need a quick, healthy treat for your dog, this recipe has you covered. Easy to make, packed with goodness, and perfectly storable—your pup will be wagging their tail for more in no time!

Friendly Reminder:
I may know my way around the treat jar, but I’m not a veterinarian! The recipes I share on The Barking Blogger are made with love and good intentions, but every pup is different. If your dog has allergies, a sensitive tummy, or you just want to be extra sure, give your vet a quick woof before trying out a new treat. After all, a happy, healthy pup is the best kind of pup!

Notes

Important things to remember when giving your dog human food:
  1. Always check ingredients for Xylitol.  Xylitol is toxic to dogs, and it only takes a small amount to be fatal.  Do not use any ingredient that has Xylitol.  See What is Xylitol? for more information on this toxic ingredient.
  2. Do not use “sugar-free” ingredients, as they can contain artificial sweeteners that can cause digestive issues with the pup, or even worse, may contain Xylitol, which can be fatal.
