They asked me why I do it. Why I spend my time and money on rescue dogs when there are so many other, more important causes. Why I open my home—and my heart—to the broken, the abandoned, the ones no one else wanted. I stood there, stunned and speechless, not because I didn’t know the answer, but because the answer was so deeply woven into the fabric of who I am.
How do you explain that your heart doesn’t choose what it loves? How do you justify the things that fill your soul?
